Membership

We are thrilled that you have an interest in MDG's membership. Our group was established in 1999 and continues to grow each month as more and more women enter the exciting world of labor support. We welcome anyone who is interested in labor support and who understands and agrees with the intentions of our mission statement to become a member. Member benefits include free admission to monthly meetings and a listing on the Doula List.

If you would like to become a member of The Metropolitan Doula Group, or to renew your membership, please fill in our form below. Dues are $25 per year and are renewable each September. Checks should be made payable to Metro Doula Group and mailed to:

Members have varying levels of experience and are independent. Many members offer childbirth related services besides labor support, such as childbirth education, HypnoBirthing support, massage, and postpartum doula services.

Each doula is unique. We suggest that you contact several doulas to find the one that best meets your needs. Fees are determined individually and are usually based upon experience as well as the client's ability to pay. They range from about $200 to $2500. When contacting a doula, you might want to ask her some questions, and do let her know that you received her name from this website.

Membership Agreement

As a member I will:

Try to attend meetings regularly and share my input and ideas with the group.
Welcome all who are interested in labor support, post partum support and birth.
Respect the decisions of the primary care providers that clients have chosen. (As described in the DONA Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice)

In exchange, I can expect the following for one 12 month membership period:

Membership - $25.00 yearly

Welcome at all meetings (no attendance fee required)
Receive all meeting notices / special announcements.
Referrals from the website listing.
Listed as member on MDG website.
Link to own website on the MDG website Group Membership benefits.
Free Listing of your childbirth related workshops or classes on monthly announcements sent to the MDG mailing list.
